BYU Slays Oklahoma in Huge Upset

I watched the entire game, and it was so satisfying to watch BYU beat Oklahoma 14-13 in the new Dallas Cowboays stadium. Kind of sloppy, lots of turnovers and penalties, but BYU just proved they are for real. The win was tarnished by a Sam Bradford injury, but it really didn’t mean anything, and here’s why.

Bradford played the entire first half. The score was 10-7 in favor of OU at the half. Clearly Bradford couldn’t handle the aggressive BYU defense. OU only managed a field goal in the second half. I’m not sure Bradford would have done much better.

BYU had five straight goal line stops in the second half. OU simply couldn’t score a touchdown on them. Couldn’t run on them, couldn’t score on them. BYU really did look like the better team. And yours truly was one of the few to actually pick them. I expect to see them shoot to the top 15 if not the top 10. Oklahoma doesn’t deserve to be in the top 25 at this point.

We’ll see what happens when new rankings are released. One thing is for sure, the big BCS guys better watch out, Boise State and BYU are for real this season!
