4-0. That’s all I have to say. ACC teams were 4-0 against SEC teams this weekend. Florida State beat Florida. Clemson beat South Carolina. Louisville beat Kentucky. And Georgia Tech beat Georgia. Take that SEC homers.
In other news, the SEC isn’t what everyone thought they were. Should have 1 team inside the top ten this week, and that’s Alabama at #1. There is one elite team in the SEC. One. There is one in the Pac-12. There are two in the Big 12. There may be three in the Big Ten. There is one in the ACC. Not sure how everyone thinks the SEC is so top heavy. The SEC is nothing special.
Here’s what I would love to see. I would love to see Missouri beat Alabama and have no SEC teams in the playoff. Then I would love to see Alabama, Mississippi State, Missouri and Ole Miss all play New Year’s bowl games and get smoked. That would be delicious. Take out the four best teams in the nation (all not in the SEC) and the four best in the SEC still lose to the teams left.
In non-SEC news, the season is mostly wrapped up. There are a few Big 12 games coming up and some conference championships. Then we will have our playoff set. I for one can’t wait. I still think ultimately it will be Alabama at #1 vs Ohio State at #4 and Oregon at #2 vs Florida State at #3. But anything can happen. The Seminoles will probably lose to Georgia Tech, at least that’s the most likely looking upset among the top teams. Ohio State losing is another possibility, stronger now that their QB is done. Don’t count out Baylor, they could still blow it in their finale.
Here’s the order at the end of the season if everyone wins out:
3. Florida State
4. Ohio State
If anyone loses, they drop out and everyone behind them moves up. That’s how it will turn out this weekend. You’ll see.
Might as well give the Heisman to Mariota now, along with a #1 draft pick and millions of dollars. That kid is going places. And it will start with the Heisman. Probably will end with a national championship.
If I were and AP voter, this would be my ballot this week:
3. Florida State
6. Ohio State
8. Kansas State
10. Michigan State
11. Mississippi State
12. Georgia Tech
14. Ole Miss
17. Arizona State
21. Boise State
