Sunday’s Sloppy Seconds – Week 7

Another fine weekend of football, and I’m convince; time to stop picking against the Mississippi schools. Looks like they are for real. What else did we learn?

TCU had one of the worst collapses in recent memory, losing a game on a last second field goal when they were up 21 with 11 minutes to play. Wow. Credit Baylor and a no-call on the 4th down pass interference. Crazy game.

The Pac-12 took another twist as Oregon downed UCLA and Arizona lost. I’m telling you, whoever wins that conference will have no less than two losses. But their champion deserves a spot in the playoff no question.

There are a few surprise teams that I think have some surprises in store for bigger teams later on. Minnesota, Kentucky, Rutgers, Utah…looking in your direction. Duke could still even make some noise. The way this season is going, there’s no telling what can happen.

Right now if I had to guess, I would say the playoff will be Mississippi State, Florida State, Oregon and Oklahoma.

If I were voting for the Heisman, this would be my ballot:

1. Dak Prescott
2. Marcus Mariota
3. Melvin Gordon

Sorry Gurley, as stupid as the NCAA rules are, you have to keep them so you can play a full season. Get suspended and your Heisman chances are completely gone.

If I were an AP voter, this would be my ballot this week:

1. Mississippi State
2. Florida State
3. Ole Miss
4. Baylor
5. Notre Dame
6. Auburn
7. Alabama
8. Oklahoma
9. Arizona
10. Oregon
11. Georgia
12. Michigan State
13. TCU
14. Kansas State
15. Oklahoma State
17. Ohio State
18. Nebraska
19. Clemson
20. Arizona State
21. USC
22. Marshall
23. Utah
24. Minnesota
25. Stanford
