The SEC would be foolish to not take Clemson or Florida State in their next round of expansion.

Both schools are a perfect fit, both geographically and culturally.

Hell, I'd even replace Vanderbilt with Georgia Tech as the "nerd" school, if they're over the whole Bear Bryant/Bobby Dodd scholarship feud.

Dan, if this expansion experience has taught us anything, it's that there's only one thing that matters in expansion: money. No one cares how easily they can win a league (ask Utah or Colorado.) No one cares about recruits (ask Nebraska if their move helps in that department.) One thing matters- which conference will pay us more. If this scenario plays out, one thing will be clear. The SEC will pay out better than the Pac-10 and travel costs would be only a fraction. No brainer if you ask me.

I disagree that Texas joining the SEC over the PAC-10 would be a no-brainer. They would choose a conference they could dominate and not lose precious in-state recruits to, not a conference with Florida, Alabama, and LSU at the top, big names capable of shaving away Texas' home-grown excellence and consistently being a major roadblock in the regular season.

Good call, you can probably take your pick of any schools to be 12, Houston, SMU, Nevada, Tulsa...anyone would rather be in a BCS mountain west than where they are now.
