All I can say about this week is, it’s about time! Finally LSU will be exposed for the terrible team they are. Now don’t get me wrong, Auburn isn’t fantastic either. They sure haven’t been winning games with defense. And like they say, offense gets you to championships, but defense wins them.
Still, it will be nice to see two overrated teams play each other again. LSU vs. Florida was another such matchup, as is nearly every SEC matchup every week. I think Auburn will get the better of LSU, but that Alabama will get the better of Auburn in the end so that there is no undefeated SEC team.
Wisconsin is going to have a huge let down game. Back on the road, facing a good defense, this has all the makings of a let down. Count the Badgers in the column with South Carolina as teams that can’t get back to the hype of beating a #1.
Oklahoma State is going to drop out of the ranks of the unbeaten. You better believe a team like Nebraska will not be down for long. Texas was in a must win situation last week. Nebraska was cruising. Guess what? Nebraska is now in a must win and Oklahoma State is cruising. Again, all the makings of last week’s game, roles reversed. Nebraska should roll.
Missouri will be another team dropping out of the unbeaten category, which is great. At the end of the year we need only Boise State and TCU to be undefeated to really see how messed up the BCS can be.
Other surprises to watch for will be West Virginia, Arizona and Georgia Tech. Syracuse has looked decent this year and WV has been flaky. Arizona barely beat Oregon State who just lost to Washington. Georgia Tech lost to Kansas. That should put them on permanent upset alert.
So after this week here’s my prediction for the BCS rankings:
4. Boise State
6. Michigan State
9. Ohio State
LSU will be close behind Stanford though. We’ll see how it all plays out, if my history is any indication it won’t be anything like this. Still fun to try though.
